HP 290 G1 MT
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I have this old machine and I want to update bios.

If I download from HP support system display this message: "There is no rom file or correct command on this utility"

I try to another pc and I can open this  software (SP136729). I try to create usb support from another pc. I reboot pc but in bios setting or in other menu there's no possibility to update system bios from usb

What can I do? I think I have to download previus version but I can't find any of them in HP website

(sorry for my bad english, I hope You can understand me)

Hi:

When I look at the BIOS update files on the 290 G1 support page, they indicate the update is for the 280 G3, and I checked the details, and it indicates no other models are supported but the 280 G3.

That would explain why you can't update the BIOS with that file.

There is a discussion of the  HP 290 G1 bios here  and one of the posters states the bios was tested and works.

You might join the forum and ask how they got the "280" bios to work in a "290" as clearly as @Paul_Tikkanen shows, it is only for the 280.
