Updating Desktop

HP Recommended
HP Omni 120
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have had this Desktop for a while and I'd like to upgrade it so it can run faster. I'm afraid if I buy a new computer and transfer everything whatever is in the old computer may not be compatible. This has already been the case with old and new Microsoft products. It originally came with Windows 7 but now running on Windows 10.  Help!
