Can I upgrade the stock SSD (MZHPV128HDGM) to 512 G or 1T?

Not sure where you found that number?   It referred to a Samsung NVMe device.

HP PartSurfer reference a part number that corresponded to an mSata device.

Can you verify source?

That's the number on the SSD card.  This is the 128 SSD I want to upgrade to 512 GB or 1 TB.

Then go for it.

If you going to clone the OS you will need an external NVMe to USB 3 adapter for the new SSD.  After cloning, swap out the SSD's.   The old 128GB now become an external device, as needed.
