OK, I know it's an old system but it's what I got. Trying to figure out what the best cpu I can put in my computer for games is going to be. I have a LGA 775 socket, with the Core2 Quad Q8300 and I want to upgrade it to the best this board will handle. the board is a Pegatron Eureka 3 with a G45/G43 Chipset. I have 8 GB of ram installed and will also be looking to put a video card in after I upgrade the cpu...
So, I guess two questions. What is the best CPU I can put in this thing, and What would be a good Graphics card to match it... Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Information regarding your desktop is somewhat challenging to come by. Anyway, if your motherboard resembles this one:
Then you could swap your current 24-pin based ATX power supply with a higher wattage PSU. You may want to consider that, as higher end GPUs require more juice and PCIe power cable(s).
Here are three legacy-compatible graphics cards which should work on your desktop:
EVGA GeForce GTX 770 SC 2GB, such as offered here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/115802796661?epid=170081377&hash=item1af6627275%3Ag%3AMT8AAOSwfL1kXkvc&amda.... This graphics card has a 230-watt TDP, and requires at least a 550 watt power supply with one 6-pin PCIe + one 8-pin PCIe power cables: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-gtx-770.c1856.
EVGA GEFORCE GTX 950 SC 2GB, such as offered here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/235008616653?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.S.... This graphics card has a 90-watt TDP, and requires a 250 watt power supply, but also requires one 6-pin PCIe power cable: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-gtx-950.c2747.
EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB, such as offered here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/325659423892?epid=2276358929&hash=item4bd2d07494%3Ag%3Ar-IAAOSwttdkZTqM&amd.... This graphics card has a 60-watt TDP, requires a 250 watt power supply, but no PCIe power cable(s): https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-gtx-750-ti.c2548.

Welcome to our HP User Forum!
In my opinion, upgrading a legacy (HP) desktop comes with its own rewards and satisfaction.
It so happened that my very first Upgrade project - an HP Compaq dc7900 USDT, was also built around an LGA 775 platform: Solved: HP Compaq dc7900 Ultra-slim Desktop PC CPU Compatibility - HP Support Community - 8087687.
The main difference between your HP Pavilion p6277c Desktop PC and my USDT, is that your PC can handle up to 95-watt TDP processors, whereas mine has a 65-watt TDP limit. But I digress.
If your desktop were mine, I would try out these two processors: an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550, or better still, the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650. This is based on information such as found in this link: CPU-Upgrade: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 CPU:
I would try out the Q9650 first.
If I was in the market to purchase a Q9650, I would buy it ($37) from this trusted eBay Seller, who also allows you to return the processor if somehow it doesn't work: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 SLB8W 3.0GHz LGA 775 Processor | eBay.
Hope this was helpful.

And with regards to a suitable graphics card, please provide the specifics of your PSU: wattage and if it came with any PCIe power cable(s).
