Your specs say that CPU is the highest upgrade you can go to.

There are 3 possible upgrades but for the performance increase is not worth it.

You could run a intel Core i7 2600K 3.4GHz hp elite 8200 tower

The answer is based on Q1 2011 outdated documentation. It does not even list the 2600K as a supported CPU, even though it is supported.

 

The i7-2700K is the latest technically-compatible CPU for your machine.

It was released Q4 2011. Given the latest documentation in regards to CPU support for you machine date from Q1 2011, chances are that the i7-2700K is fully supported.

 

HP, like too many profit-driven organization, often avoid updating their legacy product's documentation, on-purpose, as an greedy incitative for buyer to buy new equippment..

 

If anyone here ever tried the 2700K on this specific machine (HP Compaq 8200 Elite CMT), please let us know the output.
