You're very welcome.
You can do a SSD.
Your motherboard is limited to SATA II so the SSD will not reach its maximum read and write speeds.
You can download W8.1 at this (Link). You will need the W8.1 product key to activate Windows.
Do you have any disk images of your current installation? Recovering this image to a new SSD would be much faster than rebuilding the operating system.

Welcome back to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
I can't find your HP product.
You can upgrade to a 2.5 inch SATA SSD.
You may need an adapter to install the SSD in your PC.
I have had good luck using the following adapter (Link).
You can clone the existing HDD image (if it is good) to the new SSD using tips at this (Link).
