Upgrade motherboard?

HP Recommended
HP ENVY Recline23 TS Beats SE AiO PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi

I want to use my PC for VR with my new Oculus Quest headset.

Sadly, the GeForce 730A GPU and Intel 4600 onboard the PC are not fast enough. The 730A is fixed onto the motherboard.

So, it seems to me that, other than buying a new PC, I could upgrade the motherboard  - a 2AFA - if there is one available with a faster GPU. Is anyone aware of such an upgrade?

Thanks

@catnamedog , welcome to the forum.

Is your AIO the 23-m100 or the 23-m200?  Also, here is a HP Knowledge Base article that will answer your questions about upgrading the motherboard:  https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Knowledge-Base/Moving-HP-Motherboard-to-a-new-gaming-case/ta-p/...

It discusses moving your motherboard from one case to another, but in your instance it would have the same concerns.

Hi, and thanks for your reply.

I am aware of the need for identical replacements regarding motherboards. It's not only standoffs and post screws - some ribbon cables are only just long enough to push into the board.

My question is really about the availability of replacement motherboards as a way to upgrade the (in this case) onboard GeForce 730A, which is incapable of delivering the 90fps that the Oculus requires.

Do you/does anyone know if there is a range of updated motherboards with increased performance GPU's?

It seems a little short-sighted of HP to have a really good machine like the HP Envy 23 effectively obsoleting itself with a dated GPU, which, together with processor performance is being enhanced almost on a daily basis.
