HP ENVY Desktop PC TE01-1000i (1K4E8AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I bought a new, HP ENVY with Optane 16 Gigs and Windows 11 Pre-Installed. I Upgraded the Memory to 32 Gigs, I installed my EVGA nVIDIA 1050Ti GPU and Added my Samsung EVO 870 SATA SSD as Drive 2. I have a WD 8Tb External Drive attached. - I Upgraded the Windows 11 to Windows 11 Pro and run in Developers Mode.

QUESTIONS: 1) Can I Replace the Intel i5 10400 CPU (65w) with an Intel i9 11900.? 2) Which version of Intels i9 11900.?

This Computer is for Photo & Video Edits and is Not Used for Gaming.

Hi @BobGuz1,

That is a great question.  When I looked online, it suggests that at this point in time the fastest processor super users have fitted in your kind of rig (motherboard: 'Baker': HP 8767 HP Desktop PCs - Motherboard Specifications, Baker | HP® Customer Support) is the Intel Core i7-10700F or the i7-10700, please see:  UserBenchmark: HP ENVY TE01-1xxx Compatible Components.

FYI: the i9-11900 performance does score better (7%) in 'Effective Speed' compared with the i7-10700: UserBenchmark: Intel Core i7-10700 vs i9-11900, but in my opinion overall PC performance is only limited by the GPU and the RAM (PC4-23400 - DDR4-2933MHz) you pair with an i7-10700/F.

Hope this helps!

Kind Regards,

hi

"QUESTIONS: 1) Can I Replace the Intel i5 10400 CPU (65w) with an Intel i9 11900.? 2) Which version of Intels i9 11900"

as mentioned the motherboard is not indicated, only support certain models

  • TDP: up to 65 W
  • Socket type: LGA 1200
  • Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:
    Processor
    TDP
Intel Core i5-10400 (Comet Lake-S) 2.9 GHz base frequency, up to 4.3 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology, 12 MB L3 cache, 6 cores
    65 W
Intel Core i5-10400F (Comet Lake-S) 2.9 GHz base frequency, up to 4.3 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology, 12 MB L3 cache, 6 cores
    65 W
Intel Core i7-10700 (Comet Lake-S) 2.9 GHz base frequency, up to 4.8 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology, 16 MB L3 cache, 8 cores
    65 W
Intel Core i7-10700F (Comet Lake-S) 2.9 GHz base frequency, up to 4.8 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology, 16 MB L3 cache, 8 cores
    65 W
Intel Core i3-10100 (Comet Lake-S) 3.6 GHz base frequency, up to 4.3 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology, 6 MB L3 cache, 4 cores
    65 W
Intel Celeron G5900 (Comet Lake-S) 3.4 GHz base frequency, 2 MB L3 cache, 2 cores
    58 W
Intel Pentium G6400 (Comet Lake-S) 4.0 GHz base frequency, 4 MB L2 cache, 2 cores
    58 W

, in general it is better to leave it at that

but in theory it should be compatible, but a not insignificant risk that it will not work

See, already before spending how the computer behaves, it already has a good configuration
for the indicated use, if it does not work correctly, I have a doubt!
