Recently I have purchased a desktop HP Pavilion Desktop. I prefer to upgrade it with ssd m.2 storage. Please help me to select appropriate size and technology.

The following is only for explanation and example. Later you can decide.

 

Corsair sells either version of M.2 compliant device that are guaranteed to work with your computer.  Their NGFF Sata devices equal +/-  a Sata drive. Corsair sells their NVMe device,  speeds upto 2000MB/sec read. See here.

There are NVMe M.2 SSD devices that have speeds over 3200 MB/sec read, like this Samsung EVO 970 Plus

Now your decision is based on speed, capacity, and the price.  Your original HD is 1000GB , so you either get a 500GB or a 1000GB. If you get the 500GB, you need to use a migration software program that will allow the 500GB, like this program.

If you elect to use a 1000GB SSD, you can use the clone migration software that comes with the SSD (Samsung has their Data Migration software on the website). Can not comment on Crucial as I do not know their software availability.

 

Here is proof the Samsung EVO works.  The EVO plus is an upgraded version.
