HP Envy 700 Series (desktop)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Envy 700 series desktop Intel i5 333OS 2.70.  64bit

I upgraded the Ram to 16 gb a while back but now I want to upgrade the operating system to SSD. 

Has anyone had luck in doing it?  If not, if you have some info on how to do it with this, let me know.

What is your machine ? For example HP ENVY 700-074 Desktop, its specs

Anyway, you can upgrade to SSD. Nearly all of consumers SSD drives use 2.5" format therefore you need an adapter to secure new SSD to the right holes/screws. They are very cheap:
