HP Omen 25L GT12

I currently have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER, 8704 Motherboard, Intel Core i7 2.90GHz, 16GB Kingston 2933MHz Ram, and a 500W Power Supply. I want to upgrade to a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12GB and want to switch my current Ram out with a Corsair Vengeance  Pro 32GB (2PK x 16GB) 3600MHz DDR4. Would my current specs be compatible with these upgrades? Would I also need to upgrade my power supply?

@Brayden01,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

I am not going to mince words about this: I would recommend not to buy Corsair Vengeance RAM.  Its default ("SPD") speed is set at a lower speed than what your HP OMEN 25L Desktop GT12-0xxx (as fitted with the HP Dorado motherboard SSID: 8704) can achieve -which is 2933 MHz, and it will stay there until the end of times: that is what this fellow-GT12-0xxx User experienced (show & tell!): HP OMEN 25L Desktop GT12-0xxx Performance Results - UserBenchmark.

Instead, buy yourself a decent pair of dual rank 2x16GB RAM sticks without the aforementioned headaches, such as: Crucial Pro 32GB Kit (2x16GB) DDR4-3200 UDIMM | CP2K16G4DFRA32A | Crucial.com.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

Ok, I understand. Would I still be able to get the Crucial Pro 32GB (2x16)  Ram as well as the  NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12GB without upgrading my power supply? I currently have 500W. Just want to make sure I have the power to handle both of theses.

@braydenn4,

Yes, a 500-watt power supply is more than sufficient to power your RAM and an RTX 3060 12GB.
