Product: Envy Phoenix 810-480JP
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP Japan desktop, an Envy Phoenix 810-480. The graphics card is a Nvidia GeForce 980 with 4gb memory, which seems to be a bottle neck when using some recent graphics intensive games. The desktop came equipped with a ATX 500 watt PSU. I am thinking of upgrading the 980 to at least 1080Ti, or possibly 2060, 2070 or 2080. 
My questions are:

I need the new card to fit, so would a 1080Ti or any of the 2000 series be able to fit in the chassis? I have seen the dimensions of the cards and they seem to be just a millimetre or so wider than my current card.

I believe the new card would require a new PSU as 500W may not cut it. Any advice on PSU makers that would fit my chassis?

 @Kazt,

Corsair CX750M is the best choice.   Will extend into your case an extra 2 inches , so measure.  Original PSU is 5.5" depth into case, new PSU will be is 6.3" depth into case, then add room for cables to plugin and wiring to turn.

Please mention the most intense game your playing so I can determine the issue(s).

Info (translated page),  CPU i7-4790K 4Ghz , motherboard RAM either 8GB  or 16GB. ??

About power;    The GTX 980 is a 275W card.  The GTX 2080 is only a 220W card.   What about card length ?🤔🙄

Thank you for the response.

My most intense is the new Microsoft Flight Simulator. RAM is 32GB.

Recommended system power for GTX 2080 is 650W, although the card power is 225W.

Card length would appear to be the same as the 980.

 

The Nvidia site states the dimensions of the 980 is 267mm x 111mm x 40mm.

Hope you have deep $$ pockets. 

1) You i7-4790k is equal to the i5-8400 (within 2%).

2)Your also going to take a "hit" on the performance of your DDR3  PC3 RAM.
