Hello,

I have an hp envy 700-414 which has a default 460 watt power supply. I currently have a gtx 1060 in it but was hoping to upgrade that to a 6600xt or a gtx 1070. Is this doable? Any advice is appreciated

If you want to replace/add a graphics card, there are a few things you need to check

for the graphics card, I often recommend the Asus site with filter options

just 450w

See if others offer it, price/performance may vary...

If you have the idea to replace more than the graphics card (sometimes no choice, you will have to change the power supply as well) The processor, going from 16 gb of ram to 32 gb for example depending on the age of the computer, this might not be advantageous so rather old, what you change may not be able to be reused, unlike the graphics card..Sometimes, for not that much cost, you could have a much newer, more capable computer.

Thank you for your reply. I’m in the process of a 4070ti build but was hoping to squeeze all the 1080p performance I could out of this old envy my son uses lol

check, it depends on the models / brands, but here at Asus, there are not many possibilities with this power supply
I have a 1070, and it takes at least 500w !

Thank you for your help. I’ve purchased a 6600 which is smaller in size and profile than my current 1060. It’s a sapphire pulse lite edition. Watching benchmarks it looks to pull up to 130 watts as a maximum yet usually stays around 100. I will report back if it works properly. Appreciate you taking the time to reply.
