According to the Illustrated Parts and Service Map:  http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03550750 and Crucial Memory: https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hP-Compaq/hp-pro-3500-microtower.

the maximum memory for your computer is 8 GB.  You will find the correct memory in the link that I provided.  I suggest that you look at the SSD's that Crucial recommends, also.  A SSD boot drive is the least expensive, system performance booster, you can buy.  I will never have another computer without an SSD boot drive.
