Will GIGABYTE GTX 660 work on hp pavilion elite hpe-532sc

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi guys!

Will  GIGABYTE GTX 660 work with my system? I heard that there might be an issue with 2AB6 H67 motherboard since card is PCI-E 3.0 and motherboard is PCI-E 2.0. I know it shouldn't be a problem (usually) but I heard that people with this motherboard can't run PCI-E 3.0 cards.

@MrTwister30

The GTX 660 should work provided you have the proper PSU.  Lets reverse into this question.

Your existing 460W PSU actually can only sustain 431W.  It also have (2) 12V lines, 12A and 18A.

The existing GT 420 card is 50W, and works with the 460W PSU.  A GTX 660 is 140W, so you adding 100W to the system, but some manufacturers modify their cards, and ramp up the needed wattage to 150W.

So, in order to give that GTX 660 any chance of working, you need more power. I am going to strongly recommend the Corsair CX 650W, a single +12V rail unit.  It will have reserve power above your needs, and because it will not be stressed, it will operate more efficiently.  See efficiency chart.  also this explanation.
