@kitram,

When and where did you get this 10 year old unit?

It can not be used with modern UEFIvBIOS  cards, circa Sept 2012 and newer.

Here is the specs page, with the listed upgrades and components.

While your unit has a quatro 2000, that is still a December 2010 card.

@wb2001

I bought the unit second hand from my IT in the company during a workstation upgrade in UK. I just had to buy the windows licence.

For running CAD programs, analysis tools and occasional gaming I was wondering if I could put in a  consumer graphics card like the AMD RX570, upgrade the RAM (i realise I can only use DDR2 FB-667). Upgrade my solid state drive to something newer.

my worries while doing so are compatibility and also life of my PSU (1050W Delta electronics).

@kitram,

You failed to understand what I said about the BIOS.  That unit is too old to support UEFIvBIOS.

You can use the search I did on any card.  Nothing after Aug 2012 will work.

Thank you for clearing that up, shows i'm new at this :generic:

I have tried googling for legacy bios graphics card but so far I haven't found any clear choices (I will keep reading the forums though). Any choices that you could help with will be much appreciated. My current card is not able to process some of the newer 3D modelling software or games very well.

Some have mentioned that PSU wattage is important to look at if you go for a gaming card (legacy BIOS or otherwise). Also that PSU age may be a factor. What would you recommend?

@kitram,

All software has recommendations for hardware. You need to do research on the individual software 3D modeling software, and consider the fact that you can, as I suggest google the "name of the card" adding release date to the search.
