When you do not identify your notebook or desktop PC completely, you tie our hands behind our backs. Help us to help you.

When logged into Windows, hold down the Windows key and tap the R key once.


That will open the Windows run dialogue

Type in msinfo32 and press enter.


The ninth line is the system SKU and the HP product number. Kindly post it in your next reply in your thread.

The System SKU/Product ID will enable us to determine the hardware configuration of your notebook.

It has a 65 w limitation, model number is 

1A227AV serial number is 2md1034l20.

That does help in a big way.

 

Since your PC has a Ryzen processor it has the motherboard at the hyperlink below. There is a list of compatible processors in the web document.

Of the two processors which are compatible upgrades, I highly  recommend the

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz Base frequency, up to 4.4 GHz maximum boost frequency, 32 MB L3 cache, 8 core (Matisse)

 

I have that one and it is a beast.

Yea, problem is the 3900 was only sold in this computer, you can not buy it from anyone including amd.

I do see some online vendor sources. It is a difficult one to find and what is available is usually pulled from an HP PC,
