Hi

I have dc 7800 small farm factor pc. I want to upgrade processor from intel core 2duo E8200 to core 2 quad q9550. can my pc support q9550 processor.  

Update the bios is necessar

Hi:

 

Your PC will support the Q9550 processor as shown in the HP Quickspecs link below (page 9).

 

HP Compaq dc7800 Business PC (nordykassociates.com)

 

You will need to update the BIOS if you get an 1801 processor microcode error.

 

Otherwise, it should not be necessary.

 

Since you are running W10, which is an unsupported operating system to run the Windows based BIOS update flash on, use the F10 Setup BIOS flash method to update the BIOS since you will not be in Windows using that method.
