can't login/slow performance

pavilion all in one 23-q112
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

super anti spyware found trojan and cleaned it...very slow performance and now can't login...freezes at login in, endless welcome loop. performed diagnostics and got the following error: hardware test failure - hard drive short dst check failed - rgd7wk-7t79ge-gxpsmf-60r503. Tried windows reset and got in but now stuck at login screen again. Do I need to replace HD or is this a virus issue?

@xitar,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I checked the failure ID you have shared, and it looks like the hard drive is gone bad and needs replacement.

I recommend you contact HP phone support and check the available service options for your computer.

Here is how you can get in touch with the phone support.

1)Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Cheers!

I can access the HD via command prompt and was able to retrieve all my files w/no problem. chckdisk shows 23 orphaned files.
