HP Envy h8-1485ea,  beautiful when new

I want a larger HD internal enclosure.  the SDD no longer works, the cage will only take 2 HD's.

are they available? please?

Any help appreciated

@basforte,

This is going to hurt. The 16GB SSD was an Optane disc cache device. It was used to speed up your data access.  You maybe able to repair with the assist of a tech person.

There are 6 SATA data headers, ( 6x SATA 2.0 connectors (SATA 0 - 1 @ 6 Gb/s, SATA 2 -5 @ 3 Gb/s)).

So you only have 2x6Gb/s ports. The Upgrade manual shows the cage as a 3x3.5" drive unit.  Regardless, there are adapter trays that allow 2x2.5" into a 3.5" slot. But you still have the issue with the 4x3Gb/s ports.

This system is feedback driven thru Solution and Kudo flags. It's the only means of knowing if you have been served. Please click Accept as Solution, if your problem is solved. To say THANK YOU, press the "thumbs up symbol" to render a KUDO. You can render both Solution and KUDO..
