I have an HP 110-216 with the camphor 721891-002 mobo I play around with for a project. I have this in a smaller itx case but it does have plenty of ventilation and I have an arctic 80mm pulling outside air instead of the factory peanut fan. Does it seem like it should run easily up to 65* (HW monitor reading) with low cpu tasks? I know that is not a problem but I kind of like cooler temps. The fan will run about 1800 rpm at those temps. All I have is one setting in bios I think it is called thermal with no specific settings there. I sure wonder if even a slightly higher speed would make quite a bit of difference. Speedfan has no fan readings and as it is not supported anymore I don't know if that will ever work. Any ideas for software that will work with this? (I just realized that this is a pwm fan, but the header is 3 pin, so must not be true pwm control, just a speed reading and it uses voltage control? If so any other options I can use other than a control knob!? Although that may be an option if necessary.) Thanks for any ideas.
(For a hardware solution I see there are small fan control boards on ebay, but I would have no speed readouts (gotta have that). I wonder if I jumped the speed wire to the motherboard header if that would give me that readout. And I wonder if with no cpu fan on the header it would give me major error problems. It already does not like no case fan and I have to push F1 to start. I believe that some sort of way to send the mobo a speed terminal feed or some other wiring would fool that problem and maybe could work for the cpu fan also if necessary. All worth a try for the couple dollar price.)
(I have a very similar HP mobo with a 10w tdp cpu (compared to this 25w), same exact case, fan and heat sink. Running similar cpu % it runs about 20* cooler with lower fan speed. Speed fan has the same temp readout, so seems likely this number is accurate. New paste did not help. I am thinking about putting in a larger better design heat sink for the fan to blow on. I can see how to mount it and not too much work to make it fit. These kind of temps just don't seem to match with what work it is doing and the fan size. I have a lower end laptop that will run cooler than this doing similar tasks using a little funky peanut fan.)
