HP Pavilion Gaming - TG01-0004ng
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello All,

A week ago I have purchased a HP Pavilion Gaming - TG01-0004ng with ryzen 7 3700x processor, 500 Watt Gold PSU, DDR4 Ram 2666MHz and RTX 2060 super Graphics card. I have seen that during gaming or stress testing the CPU temperature reaches 85-90 degrees. As per my knowledge Its is not normal and these temperatures are way too high. Off course it does not cause short term damage as shutdown limit for processor is 95 degrees. However I am concerned about the long term life of CPU. Furthermore Idle temperatures are always changing and is in the range 50-60 degrees.  I can not do any cooler upgrade as it will void the warranty. Also I have heard this is a general issue with Zen 2 Architecture. Any recommendation or help will be appreciated. Shall I return the product or are there some modifications that I can do? Also I can not change Fan Curves or play with BIOS as it is also locked from HP.

Hi,

You could remove the CPU cooling system, clean the existing TIM on the CPU and heat sink, reapply TIM to the CPU.

This could void your warranty if you break something.

Or return the PC for a refund/exchange.

Or have a local PC tech take a look.

Regards
