I am attempting to do a factory reset on my hp h8-1360t but I can't find any option to do that.  I would greatly appreciate any help you can provide.

Thanks,

JB

@JPB2022,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

I would try this first:

  1. Restart your PC and tap F11 repeatedly as soon as it starts up.

  2. If HP Recovery Manager opens, choose Troubleshoot → Recovery Manager → System Recovery to restore the system to factory settings.

Btw, this only works if the original HP recovery partition is still intact.

If F11 doesn't respond, you can try to reset Windows instead:

  • Go to Start → Settings → System → Recovery → Reset this PC → Remove everything → Local reinstall.
    (This reinstalls Windows but not the original HP factory image.)

If the factory recovery option no longer appears, you can recreate it using HP's current recovery solution:

Use the HP Cloud Recovery Tool

  1. On another working Windows PC, download the HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Microsoft Store link is provided on that page).

  2. Launch the tool and enter your PC's product number or serial number.

  3. It will download the correct factory image and create a bootable USB recovery drive.

  4. Insert the USB into your HP H8-1360t, boot from it, and follow the on-screen steps to restore your system to factory condition.

This method provides the full HP factory image with preinstalled drivers and software.

@JPB2022

Your PC is way too old to be supported by the HP cloud recovery tool which was introduced for consumer class PCs in 2016 that came with W10 from the factory.

Now support for that utility is only provided up to 5 years from the PC's release date.

If you have W10 installed, you can reinstall Windows by making a bootable USB installation flash drive with the media creation tool from the link below.

Download Windows 10

Since your PC did not originally come with W10, during the installation process you will be asked to enter the version of W10 you want to install.  Select the version of W10 you are running on the PC.

Then you will be asked to enter a product key.  Select the 'I don't have a product key' option and W10 will install and then activate after you are connected to the internet.

if you are running an older version of Windows, and you can't factory reset the PC, your only option would be to order a recovery kit from this vendor at the link below:

@Paul_Tikkanen,

Thank you for correcting my rose-colored HP cloud recovery tool assumption for the OP's PC.

I like the tool's concept and assumed it would apply to all HP PCs -and not just having a 5-year from release window either...

Thanks very much for your detailed response. I will give these solutions a try and let you know how it goes.
