hp stream 14 showing no signs of life except charger light comes on when charger is plugged in my cousin said she accidentally stepped on it and then it stopped working the screen doesn’t show any signs of damage so I’m thinking maybe it’s a faulty battery though if that were the case wouldn’t it turn on when plugged into the charger?

@DiscountDemon, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
First, the battery could be damaged. If the battery is faulty, the laptop might not turn on, even if plugged into the charger. You can try removing the battery (if it’s removable), plug in the charger, and see if the laptop turns on without the battery.
Another thing to try is a power drain. Unplug the charger, remove the battery, and hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain any remaining power. After that, plug in the charger and try turning it on again.
Check the charging port and charger as well. Sometimes, impact can damage the charging port, even if the charger light comes on. Try using a different charger if you have one or check the port for any visible damage.
It’s also worth testing if the laptop is powering on but the screen is broken. You can connect the laptop to an external monitor to see if it’s working.
