Hi @kjgukjgu,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that you are having issues with the keyboard.
On your HP Envy Desktop PC TE01-4000i keyboard, some keys have four symbols. Typically, the top two symbols on these keys are accessed using the Shift and AltGr (or Right Alt) keys. Here's how you can use them:
- Default Key Press: This will type the symbol at the bottom left of the key.
- Shift + Key: This will type the symbol at the top left of the key.
- AltGr + Key: This will type the symbol at the bottom right of the key. On many keyboards, the AltGr key is the right Alt key.
- Shift + AltGr + Key: This will type the symbol at the top right of the key.
For example, if your key has the following symbols:
- Bottom left: a
- Top left: A
- Bottom right: @
- Top right: €
To type each symbol:
- Press the key by itself for a.
- Press Shift + the key for A.
- Press AltGr + the key for @.
- Press Shift + AltGr + the key for €.
Example
Let's say a key has the following symbols:
- Bottom left: 2
- Top left: @
- Bottom right: €
- Top right: £
To type each symbol:
- 2: Press the key.
- @: Press Shift + the key.
- €: Press AltGr + the key.
- £: Press Shift + AltGr + the key.
Kindly find the next steps in the next post.

Hi @kjgukjgu,
Please find the next steps.
If AltGr (Right Alt) doesn't work, you may need to check your keyboard settings:
Check Keyboard Layout Settings:
- Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language.
- Select your language and click on Options.
- Ensure that the correct keyboard layout is selected (e.g., US-International).
Test AltGr Key:
- Open a text editor and press AltGr + 2 (or another key with four symbols) to test if the AltGr key is functioning.
Enable Additional Keyboard Layouts:
- Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language.
- Click on Add a keyboard and select the layout that matches your keyboard (e.g., US-International).
If you've verified your settings and the AltGr key is still not working as expected, there might be a hardware issue with the keyboard, or the AltGr functionality might be mapped differently on your specific keyboard model.
If this does not help, I recommend you contact phone support.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
