upgrading power supply in a 690

Hi,

I have a Pavilion 690-002bla. It has a sunflower motherboard (AMD ryzen 5 2400G and 1050Ti).

Do you know if HP has a 500W Small Form Factor (SFF) Power Supply that  I can use in my desktop 690? If yes could you tell me its number part?

I think the higher SFF PSU that I can use is the 400W SFF (L04618-800), however this implies I only could upgrade to 1060. Also I know about a 500W no SFF PSU (L05757-800) being used in a recent upgrade. However, I dont sure about doing the same thing.

I am not a HP employee.

You are correct. The 500 watt HP PSU does not install correctly in your PC's chassis.

A 400 watt PSU upgrade is the only recommended option at this time.

A different forum member did install the 500 watt part in a 690 chassis but could only attach the PSU to the chassis using one screw.

Right now the Asus gtx1660ti and gigabyte gtx1660ti requiere a 450watts power supply.

Do you think is good alternative wait for the 2019 Pavilion 690 desktops? Maybe this year hp introduces a new model with 1660ti powered by a 450 watts SFF PSU (with 8 pins). What do you think?

Gee, I don't know what HP will do.

HP may do a 500 watt SFF PSU this year which will fit in your 690 chassis.

Your guess is as good as mine.

I don't know what HP is going to do.

A 2060 requires a 500 watt PSU now and one PCIe 8 pin connection from the PSU to the GPU.

you can use a regular powersupply a 24pin at that heres what youll need.

this fix is for the 2x4 pin power connector mb which is known as sunflower. idk if this fixes your issue or not but if someone could share that in the right direction i would apperciate it.

i will note that i am running a 310 watt 90 rated gold psu that came with my 690 0013w with the ryzen 5 2400g cpu 16 gb team group 2400 ram oc to 3200 mhz as well as a 1060 6gb amp edition and it is oc to 150 core and 450 mem. as well as 2 1tb hdd 7200 rpm with a 500gb ssd from western digital and no crashes no nothing. so i do know if you have that psu it is enough to go to a 1060 good luck and sorry for the many resposes. kinda big news for these pcs with very little upgrading resposes

are you using that adapter in your 310 watts and sunflower Pavilion 690?

Does your 1060 have a 6 pin connector?

I have a preinstalled 1050TI. this GPU doesn´t need a pin connector. However, if I upgrade to a new 1060 it needs a 6 pin connector, if I upgrade to 1660 or 2060 they need a 8 pin connector. Also 310 watts doesn´t seem like enough for any new upgrade. The new GPU with lesser power requierements is the 1060 with 400 watts.
