HP Z440 Workstation PC
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello -

I've seen there are answers to voltage questions about laptops, but not PCs.

I have a Z440 Workstation desktop and am moving to Portugal.  I've searched the back of my PC but cannot find any info on the voltage to figure out if it will work at 220V in Portugal with a plug adapter (vs the current US voltage of 120).

I really want to be sure since it will cost me a bit to ship it over and it would be frustrating to pay up to ship it only to fry it when I plug it in.  Can anyone point me to online documentation with the answer?

Thank you very much.

Hi:

See page 22 of the quickspecs below.

http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c04400038.pdf

The power supply ranges from 100-240 VAC, 5060 Hz

If you don't see a little red switch on the back of the power supply near where the PC plugs in to switch from 110v to 220v, then the switch is automatic.

The power supplies on my newer HP business desktop PC's are all auto switching.

I have a spare power supply, and checked the whole thing for the presence of a voltage change switch and none was present.

You would have to get a different power cable that goes from the wall outlet to the PC once you get to Portugal.

You should be able to get one at any hardware store or PC supply store.
