Ok same answer on all PCs.

there are 2 waYS,

1: CLONE THE OLD TO NEW.  (then Remove old and move old to old slots) leave old out until new works)

cloning can fail if using secure boot, or bitlocker or TPM  and the HP recovery feature will be dead now. (its protected)

2: or fresh install the OS. (remove old HDD, install new and install) later the hdd old can be used as 2nd driver after disabling the active partition BIT. (depend on BIOS happiness what is allowed if 2 disks both can boot,  many PCs fail hard here.

the clone programs (mine) flip off the active bit at end of clone to make all this work.

do not install w10 with 2 hdd present, or it will get lost. on phase 2 reboot;.<<< big hint.

3: some will say image the disk old to (somewhere)  and then restore it to new,  endless apps to do that, some work some do not, for sure recovery partitions are dead,  (HP and MS lock the recovery to one PC, and one HDD)

or use old 2nd drive latter in a external drive enclosure  to access old data.
