@canthit,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Please provide a valid HP PC model number, as "hp6-2016" refers to an asteroid.

I'm assuming that you have this model PC:

HP Pavilion p6-2016 Desktop PC - Specifications | HP® Support

Note that Microsoft closed the loophole last year that allowed users to continue to get the free upgrade to W10 after the official free upgrade period ended in 2016.

That means you would have to buy Windows 10.

I'm not sure that is a worthwhile investment since software support for W10 ends next October.

However, your PC should be able to run W10, based on its specifications:

@canthit,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Your HP Pavilion p6-2016 Desktop PC as fitted with the IPISB-CU (Carmel2) motherboard, is a legacy system with the Intel H61 chipset, which means compatible with 2nd and 3rd gen Intel Core processors only.

Windows 11 compatible processors start with 8th gen Intel processors, so that is the main reason why Windows 11 is not compatible with your PC.

However, that shouldn't stop you necessarily to run W11 on your system, as @Paul_Tikkanen would be happy to share with you how to do that if you are interested.

Kind Regards,
