HP All in One
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The 2 USB ports 2.0 directly next to the ethernet port stopped working. They(The computer) tells me they are setting up a mouse or keyboard or printer then I get another message saying that the computer doesn't recognize the USB connection. I tried the online HP support and have had no luck. I uninstalled the USB Hub Root and restarted and got the same messages.

I bought 2 different Mice one HP the other Microsoft Then even a wireless mouse (Microsoft) still nothing. Did the board go Bad??

This happened before about 6 months ago with ONE port. (I moved the mouse to the one next to it) Then that one stopped. I shut down the computer for the weekend and came back on a Monday morning and the ports both worked.

Now the saga continues again on Friday afternoon (06-11-2021)

Hi,

It sounds like the USB 2.0 controller on the motherboard (MB) has failed or is intermittingly failing.

This is integrated on the MB. Not much you can do except replace the MB. This option is limited with a AIO MB.

Could be the USB ports but still integrated on the MB.

Regards

Thank you, I was hoping that wasn't the case.

@JustMeJoe248,

You're very welcome.

You could confirm this by having a local PC tech diagnosis.
