Solved!

Am being asked to Activate Windows after a reset and have no key number to activate

HP Pavillion All in One
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

After a Microsoft Update for Windows 8 I ended up with a black screen.  Managed to get the computer going but it kept going off to black screen.  Having eventually got in I decided to do a Refresh and am now being asked to Activate Windows with a product key.  Where is this product key?  I am unable now to connect to the internet so can't use the computer at all.  Fortunately I have access to a different one to ask this question!

will fix the internet dead first. use ethernet wired to router

for  faster connect up.

activate later (no hurry that) and when it all is working .

that black screen , sounds like bad gpu driver or just sleep mode going active

but get ethernet up first,  use CAT5/6 cable and get that working first, most times 10x more easy than wifi.

then do wifi last,. if at all.

no product number posted, so... I hope my answer is good./ AIO means little..

NO warranty answers by me.

Hello and thanks for the info.  Will give it a try.  Computer did this once before after a Microsoft Update and they gave me a Temporary account.  It was a nightmare as I'm not that tech savvy.   Didn't use the computer for a couple of weeks and then fired her up and the problem seemed to have solved itself.  This problem came again after an Update. so did a refresh to before the update was downloaded.  Thanks so much for the advice.
