Hey guys,
My computer turned off during a disk repair and now my Windows 10 will not boot.
I ran the reset to keep my files and it loads to 1% than says undoing changes and says it cannot be completed.
After trying the automatic repair built into HP I get the error message;
Log File: C\Windows\System32\Str\StrTrial.txt
It's such a simple and stupid mistake and I need some help.
I've looked around on YouTube and asked some friends and they suggest I reinstall Windows; I tried the repair unit built into the thumb drive with Windows 10 on it and it doesn't work. When I try to reinstall it says that I need to removed the installation media in order to complete my re-installation?
I've tried accessing the C: drive through Command Prompt but I'm not a programmer and I keep hitting brick walls. Access Denied or 0 bytes available? Maybe I'm accessing the wrong drive... but Command Prompt said my Windows files are in C: so I really don't know what to do.
Thank you.

This issue is often due to a failing drive. So, let's check that first, because if it is failing, it would need to be replaced and there is no point then in doing anything else until we confirm that.
If your PC is new enough to support UEFI, you can use these steps to test the hard drive: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00439024
If not, to check the drive you have to follow these steps:
1) Press Esc key repeatedly, several times a second, while rebooting the laptop. Do NOT hold the key down, just press it over and over.
2) Eventually, you will see an HP Startup Menu
3) Press the Function key for testing the hard drive (usually F2) and let it run.
