OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 880-125se
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

18 month old OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 880-125se.  Notified of BIOS update via HP Support Assistant of BIOS update F.53 (Mine is F.51).  Attempted install, message from BIOS during installation "Can't read BIOS image",  In addition UEFI Diagnostics (from BIOS) reports diagnostics (at BIOS level) "out of date".  Downloaded UEFI diagnostics from HP, they failed to update BIOS as well.  I have the Windows Diags from HP for Windows. version 1.6.8.0.  Diags from BIOS reports Version 7.6.0.0.  UEFI update is 7.6.2.0.  System is working but am concerned about updates not installing.

Win 10 Home 64bit

32GB RAM

Many thanks in advance for suggestions

Hi,

I would not use HPSA to update the BIOS. I have seen some bad BIOS updates using HPSA which required HP factory service.

You can download and manually update to BIOS version F.53 Rev.A here (Link). Some BIOS updates require an interim update. I don't see this mentioned in the release notes or instructions but F.52 Rev,A is also available here (Link).

Loss of power or a user induced premature shutdown can break the motherboard.

Be careful.

Regards
