Product: Pavillion 500-205t

I recently installed 2 gb of ram to my computer to make it a total of 10gb and installed a EVGA 750 ti graphics card. I checked beforehand that these items were compatible, but for some reason my monitor won't turn on. I can hear my computer running and it makes the beep noises but my monitor says it can't find an output even though it's plugged in.
