@Bob_OPS, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
You can connect all three ports (HDMI, VGA, USB-C) to the monitor, but you have to manually switch between them in the monitor's settings. It won’t automatically switch for you.
HDMI problems (black screen, freezing) could be due to:
Faulty cables
Outdated drivers (make sure your drivers are up to date)
Monitor settings or even a damaged port
USB-C (DisplayPort) connection is a good choice if you want better performance. It can offer higher speeds and better display quality than HDMI or VGA.
What to try next:
- Use a USB-C to DisplayPort cable for better performance.
- Check the HDMI and VGA cables for damage.
- Update your graphics drivers if you haven't already.
- Reset the monitor to factory settings in case the issue is with its configuration.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
