Want to donate used HP 8600 Deskjet Office Pro.  Error message on printer screen "Printer head is missing or installed incorrectly"  I have a new printer but would like to reset the old printer to factory settings (erase any memory) but error message stays on screen and only option is the tutorial i.e. can't get to factory reset options.  Help.  Thanks.

Here is a video that should help you reset the printer.

Apologies.  I should have been more clear.  Error message on printer screen does not allow me the option to return to home, only to watch a video explaining the error. Tried turning printer off numerous times and plugging, unplugging, pushing on button when plugging in etc. Printer screen always returns to printer carrier error message with no (apparent) option to bypass.  All buttons outside of screen inoperable.  Thank you.

If that is the case, the printer needs repair since its firmware appears to have issues.

It is not really worth taking to a shop and investing $$ since it has very little value at this time even as a repaired item.
