HP Slim Desktop PC S01-pF2000i (52Z19AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello, we just bought the HP Slim Desktop & neither of us are exactly computer geniuses. For some reason, we can't get the CD tray to open. Can someone please help? Thanks!

Hi:

Most new desktop PC's today do not come with DVD drives.

Is there a DVD drive showing up in This PC, in the Devices and Drives section?

If not, your PC is one of the many that do not come with a DVD drive.

If yes, you can right click on the DVD icon and select Eject from the menu and the DVD tray will open.

You can close it by gently pushing the tray back in.

If they don't make CD trays anymore, why does the external cover show the markings of a CD tray? Very weird. I've been trying to open it for weeks.

So does that mean I have to purchase a CD attachment?

$800 and no CD tray. Bummer.

As I wrote earlier this month...hardly any desktop PC comes with a DVD drive anymore.

Buy a USB DVD burner.

That's what I use.

There are too many parts you would have to buy to add an internal DVD player including a whole new front panel for the PC.

It would probably cost you well over $100 to add one.
