HP Notebook 15-da0598sa
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I appear to have a glitch between my HP notebook 15-da0598sa and Microsoft Edge  attempting to reach support webpage https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c04675142 in particular which refers to instructions on how to use HP Smart. Using Edge the page persistently attempts to load but cuts out and starts again on a kind of loop.  I did find another HP support website which did the same thing but I have forgotten what is was now but other HP  support webpages I tried work fine.  I find no trouble reaching this or any other HP web pages from Internet Explorer 11- just Edge that plays up.  The HP support assistant installed on the computer also reaches HP support pages without problem.

I am a technophobe but the glitch appears to be HP's end.

Hi

Try a different browser, like Brave ?

The link opens perfectly.

Thank you LIl_Boy_Blue.

 I can reach the mentioned  web site with Internet Explorer 11 and can also reach it through HP assistant support.

I don't wish to add further browsers and if I did it would be Chrome or Firefox  but thanks for your time and input. I appreciate it.

My main reason for posting is to bring the glitch with Edge to HP's attention and hope they will look into it.

I am wondering if I have jumped the gun here because the relevant website now states to the effect that HP are upgrading the site and if there are any errors in using it to try again later.   This could be my problem.  I'll wait and see.

@imbart

Consider the alternative of using the new Edge -- what folks are calling Edgeium.

I'm NOT a fan of the original EDGE, as I found it largely be a metro-ized crippled version of IE.  So when Edgeium came out, I was apprehensive.  But it won me over quickly.

You can get the new Edge from MS, or you can also get it from here:   https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/microsoft_edge_stable.html

I have been using this for several days now and am really impressed with how well it works.

Many  thanks, WAWood

As mentioned if I use another browser it would be Chrome or Firefox.  At the moment I have Edge and Internet Explorer 11 already installed on my HP laptop and the only problem is with Edge which is minimal.  It is possible that Edge may  be temporarily incompatible while HP sorts the particular website out so I shall let the matter rest in the meantime.

I am grateful for your expert advice nevertheless. I like the way MajorGeeks show the new Edge as Edge Stable - that could be a clue!

Hello WAWood

I've investigated your suggestion about Microsoft Edge Stable the new version of Edge and find that anyone with Edge will be automatically upgraded through Microsoft Updates in due course anyway according  to this useful blog https://blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/2020/01/15/upgrading-new-microsoft-edge-79-chromium/ .

Once again thanks for your initial  information.  I ticked the blue + for you.

@imbart

I understand your wanting to wait, or NOT to replace the old Edge with the new one just yet -- but the community Win10 forums has this thread about using BOTH -- so you can try out the new one and still retain the old one:  https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/144061-enable-microsoft-edge-side-side-browser-experience-window...
