Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My less than two year old Envy750xt will not progress past the "Choose an option" blue screen. I have tried numerous, recommended fixes with no success. Live HP support is non-existent because the warranty is out. The computer did not come with a start up disk, and when I went to HPs ordering site, they want to charge $40 dollars (plus S&H) for something that should have been included originally. The computer crashed after the Windows 10 update (February 2020), so I am pretty sure it is a software problem and not my hard drive (the advanced diagnostics test said the drive was fine).

I was reading you can go to Windows site and download the startup on a 10GB flash drive and then try booting up from the flash drive and I don't need to pay the ~$45 to HP. Does this sound right?

I have bought 4 HPs before (I have two currently, the broke Envy and an Omen), but the lack of a startup disk coupled with the lack of helpful customer support will probably make those my last two machines from them. I am very disappointed with HP and I am not going to spend money on something the company should have included in the first place.

Thanks in advance for any and all responses,

Junior65

Hi:

Your PC should be supported by the HP cloud recovery tool.

Using another Windows PC and a 32 GB USB flash drive, you can create a bootable recovery drive with the cloud recovery tool that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your PC.

Here is an info link for how to use that utility...

Yes, the other option would be to use the Microsoft media creation tool to create bootable W10 installation media.

After W10 has completed installing you can install the drivers and available software from your PC's support page.
