Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

My HP Pavilion 500-281 is slow to process commands after I hit return. Sometimes up to a minute.  It also is slow to open documents or programs.

Hi @roycesaunders10

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Two major variables can affect system performance.

1. Hardware config

2. The number of Windows processes running.

I checked your PC's hardware config. You have the following components:

1. Four GBs of RAM.

2. A slow 1 TB HDD.

3. A dual core i3-4130 CPU.

You might get some relief by upgrading the RAM and swapping in a SATA SSD. I would do a 2x8 GB memory kit and a 1 TB SATA SSD. This would cost about $100.00 USD.

Crucial would have upgrades (RAM and internal SSD) for these two components:

You could also upgrade the current dual core CPU to a Quad Core CPU.

The following CPS will work with your HP MB. Look at Haswell Quad Core upgrade options.
