HP Pavilion a6667c PC
Microsoft Windows Vista

My computer is stuck on the blue screen which shows the options of F9 diagnostics, F10 setup, and F11 system recovery. Pressing these buttons doesn’t bring me anywhere and it only stays on the blue screen. I just want to reset the whole computer because it’s not functional at all and I am guessing it got a virus or something

Sorry to say this, but a factory reset is almost certainly NOT going to work.  Why?  Because in order for it to work, the drive must be in pristine condition and the problems you are reporting indicate the opposite -- a failing drive.  This is especially likely if this Vista-era PC is still using the original drive.

The procedure for running the reset is the following:

1) press the Esc key repeatedly while rebooting

2) when the HP Startup Menu appears, select the option to do the reset (usually F11)

3) if this works, will take a couple of hours or so to do the reset and when done, it will reboot and you will be back into Initial Setup again
