Hi there,
I am seeing the above notification about my HP Smart Adapter and my laptop will not charge. I have tried using another charger, and even tried using an identical laptop battery, but to no avail.
I am running the latest update on Windows 8.1.
Please can someone advise me on how can I fix this?
Many thanks,
Max

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,
Did you know that this message means that your adapter does not have enough voltage to power your notebook PC?
The reason and symptoms are mentioned below:
If the size of the power adapter that you are attempting to use with your notebook PC is:
-
too small – . The battery light
blinks rapidly 8 times and a notification message that reads The output power of the HP Smart AC Adapter connected to your computer is insufficient. Please connect a higher capacity AC adapter. displays in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
For example, attempting to use a power adapter designed for an HP Mini PC on a regular size notebook PC may display this error message because it will not deliver sufficient voltage to power the regular size HP Notebook PC. Please use the power adapter that came with your notebook PC. If you are using the original adapter and still getting the error message - you need a replacement adapter, please see this article: HP Notebook PCs - Ordering HP Certified Replacement Parts
If you're using the original adapter that was shipped with the PC. Then I would suggest here is to update the Bios on your PC from our HP support website, using this link.
Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.
Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.
Once done, restart the computer.
Let me know how it goes for further assistance!
