HP Stream Laptop 11-y0XX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased this laptop in september 2018 and since the first week of purchase it has been running painfully slow. I tried to return it to the store, Argos Ireland, but they refused to let me. Ever since, this problem has continued and only worsened, as these days the 32 gb hard drive limit has been maxed with nothing else but windows updates, meaning I can install nothing new on the laptop, and despite deleting absolutely everything I can on it, I can't make enough room for any updates

I purchased the laptop in a rush as I was moving to the netherlands for college. Despite this being marketed as an ideal student laptop it is nothing but an absolute mess. The webcam is grainy and non-functioning, there is a one drive option but it is unusable for some reason, nothing can be installed on it and I have no idea how HP were able to pass this junk through testing as the security risk alone from being unable to install updates is enough to mark them for liability. It has made my time in university hell so far as I can't keep up with my colleges and the horrid webcam makes it almost unusable for study.

At the very least HP must have some kind of fix for allowing the user to continue installing updates? I can't even reboot the laptop from scratch because I can't even clear the 5gb of space needed to do so. For that matter the option to install updates via external drive is non-functioning and there is no such option to use an external HD to perform a fresh reboot.

Well, there is no option to replace its 32GB eMMC storage. You have to use the following way few times each year

Then saving money to buy a different and better machine

At the first hurdle, the option to install a fresh windows by USB is missing on mine. It's just grayed out no matter what I put in

Also, why is this called a cloudbook when the cloud doesn't work?

Here are some things you can do to recover some of the disk space:

Also, the community Win10 Forums has the following suggestions:

In addition, I have found the utility Cleanmgr+ to have LOTS of options for removing Windows junk, including log files. I use it practically every day. You can get it from here: https://www.getclone.app/download/category/11-cleanmgr

Also, there is a freeware app known as Wise Disk Cleaner. I use it every day to get rid of junk files: https://www.wisecleaner.com/wise-disk-cleaner.html
