Hi @kathybird,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there might be an issue with your laptop's display settings after accidentally deleting some files. To troubleshoot this, you can try the following steps.

  • Restart your laptop: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve display-related issues.
  • Check Recycle Bin: If you accidentally deleted files, check the Recycle Bin to see if they can be restored. If you find the files related to display settings, restore them.
  • Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. You can usually do this through the Device Manager or by visiting the official HP website for driver updates.
  • System Restore: If the issue persists, you may consider using System Restore to revert your system to a point before the accidental deletion. Be aware that this will undo any changes made to the system after that restore point.
  • Windows Display Settings: Go to the Windows Display Settings (Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings). Try adjusting your display settings from there.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
