HP Pavilion M9090
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hello  everybody. Any suggestion how to proceed? My data has probably gone to „Corona“.

Does it make sense to replace the hard disk? Or try to sell the old and buy a new one?

The M9090 has been bought in 2008.

Many thanks for the advise.

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

  2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.

    Figure : System Diagnostics

Startup Menu with F2 System Diagnostics selected
  3. The HP PC Hardware Diagnostics opens. On the main menu, click Component Tests.

  4. In the Component Tests menu, click Hard Drive.

  5. In the Hard Drive Tests menu, click Quick Test.

  6. Click Run Once.

  7. The Hard Drive Quick Test begins. If the computer has more than one hard drive, select the drive you want to test. To test all the hard drives, select Test All Hard Drives.

When the test is complete, the results are displayed on the screen.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
