Hi @mllucas22,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Officejet Pro 8610 printer is not working properly with your new computer running Windows 11, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.

  • Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your Windows 11 computer. Visit the official HP website and search for your printer model to find and download the latest drivers compatible with Windows 11. Install the drivers and follow any on-screen instructions.
  • Restart Devices: Sometimes, restarting both your printer and computer can resolve communication issues. Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, and then plug it back in. Restart your computer as well.
  • Check Printer Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer. If you're using a USB cable, make sure it is securely plugged into both the printer and your computer. If you're using a wireless connection, check if your printer and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Run the Printer Troubleshooter: Windows 11 has a built-in printer troubleshooter that can help identify and resolve common printer issues. To access it, go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Additional Troubleshooters. Select "Printer" from the list and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Disable Firewall/Antivirus: Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your computer and check if it allows communication between your printer and computer. Sometimes, these security programs can block printer communication.
  • Reset Printer Settings: Resetting the printer to its default settings can sometimes resolve compatibility issues. Refer to your printer's manual or visit the HP support website to find instructions on how to perform a factory reset on your specific model.
  • Reinstall the Printer: If all else fails, you can try removing the printer from your computer and reinstalling it. To do this, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and click on "Remove device." Then, follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
