This software has continually tried to update on my computer "every day" since its' original release on 2/10/2017 and I can not get rid of it. It "RELOADS" onto my hard drive at least once a week. I have even done a total windows 10 clean reload recently on the computer and still can not get rid of it. Today is November 1, 2019, over 2.5 years later. Any useable suggestions anyone. Windows does not even allow deletion of this apparently totally useless old update.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I reviewed your post and I understand that you are getting an update that you are unable to install it on the computer.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
Where are you getting this update? (Windows update or HP support assistant)
Have you tried downloading and installing it manually?
Meanwhile, I recommend you download and install HP support assistant and install all the updates.
NOTE: If you are getting the USB update in HP support assistant then uninstall and reinstall HP support assistant from the below link.
Here is how it is done.

Sorry if not clear in my original inquiry on 11/01/19. The update is coming through "Windows Update" automatically every time Windows Updates runs on my Pavilion Desktop, not through HP Support Assistant which I do have installed and it is current.
I made this inquiry to this community as all such inquiries to Microsoft were totally ignored. They apparently think that it is an HP Problem, Not Theirs. I currently have at least 20 copies of this update on my hard drive, after recently "reloading" a clean version of windows, with no way to stop it from "Reloading" nor of "Deleting" the multiple copies as it is "Greyed Out" in the windows update history. I wrote to you as I had no luck at all with Microsoft. I can not be the only person with this issue. Any other suggestions?
Thank you.

- Open Security
- Select ‘Windows Update
- Select the option View Available Updates in the upper left-hand corner
- Locate the update in question, right-click and select ‘Hide Update’

Thank you for your reply. I tried to do as you suggested. My computer, in the control panel, shows an option as "Security & Maintenance, I went there, opened it, nothing there. Opened "windows settings" from the "start menu" , went to "updates and security", which opened to the "windows update screen". There is "no" button nor option anywhere that says "view available updates" anywhere. There is a "check for available updates" button in the upper left. This screen offers no option to either choose, modify, hide or otherwise allow choices. Just download or nothing. Any other suggestions?

I recommend you follow the below steps and check.
- Go to This PC and open the partition you have your Windows installed on (it’s usually C:)
- Go to Windows folder
- In Windows folder, find the folder named Softwaredistribution and open it
- Open sub-folder Download and delete everything from it (you might need administrator permission)
- Now go to Search, type update and open Windows Update Settings
- Go to Advanced Options and set Notify to schedule restart under Choose how updates are installed

Tried your latest 11/05/19 recommendation and deleted everything in the "windows update" folder. etc. As soon as I rebooted and went into Windows update, this same USB update from 2017 reloaded again. Apparently, this useless HP update is buried deep in the Windows 10 Home Edition software itself. Their is no other viable explanation, and since Microsoft has totally ignored all of my attempts to obtain their assistance in getting rid of this obnoxious little update, I guess I am stuck with it. I even printed a copy of all updates ever issued by HP for this particular computer and this one appears nowhere on the 4 pages of updates. It is a Microsoft creation, not HP's. Thank you for your assistance.

I recommend you download and run the Windows update troubleshooter from the below link and it should automatically fix all the Windows update related issues.
