Hi @Rjsayan,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Laptop - 14s is experiencing a blue screen (also known as the "Blue Screen of Death" or BSOD), here are the steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Note the Error Message
- When the blue screen occurs, there may be an error code or message displayed. Write it down (e.g., "CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED," "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION," or any other specific code). This can help pinpoint the issue.
Restart Your Laptop
- Sometimes, a one-time glitch can cause a blue screen. Restarting your laptop can temporarily resolve the issue.
Boot Into Safe Mode
- If the issue persists, try booting into Safe Mode to troubleshoot further:
- Restart the laptop and press F8 or Shift + F8 before Windows starts to load.
- From the Advanced Boot Options menu, select Safe Mode.
- Once in Safe Mode, try uninstalling any recently installed programs or drivers that might be causing the issue.
Update Drivers
- Outdated or corrupted drivers often lead to BSODs. To update drivers:
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Right-click on the device with an exclamation mark (often in Display Adapters, Network Adapters, or Sound, Video, and Game Controllers) and choose Update Driver.
- You can also visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your laptop model.
Check for Windows Updates
- Microsoft often releases patches that address stability and compatibility issues:
- Open Settings > Update & Security.
- Click Check for Updates and install any available updates.
Run the Blue Screen Troubleshooter
- Windows includes a built-in troubleshooter for blue screen issues:
- Open Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
- Select Blue Screen and run the troubleshooter.
Check for Disk Errors
- Corrupted files can trigger blue screens. Run the chkdsk utility to scan for disk errors:
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator (right-click on the Start menu and select Command Prompt (Admin)).
- Type chkdsk /f and press Enter.
- If prompted to schedule a disk check upon the next restart, type Y and press Enter, then restart your laptop.
Run System File Checker (SFC)
- The SFC tool scans and repairs corrupted system files:
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
- Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
- Wait for the scan to complete and follow any on-screen instructions.

Uninstall Recent Software or Updates
- If the blue screen started occurring after installing new software or updates, try uninstalling them:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.
- Select recently installed apps and uninstall them one by one.
- You can also go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > View update history to uninstall recent updates.
Perform a System Restore
- If the issue is recent and nothing else works, use System Restore to revert the system to a previous working state:
- Type System Restore in the Windows search bar and select Create a restore point.
- In the System Properties window, click on System Restore.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to restore your system.
Consider a System Reset
- If the issue persists and you are unable to resolve it, consider resetting your laptop:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery.
- Select Get Started under Reset this PC and choose to keep your files (or remove everything for a fresh start).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
