Hi @Rjsayan,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Laptop - 14s is experiencing a blue screen (also known as the "Blue Screen of Death" or BSOD), here are the steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Note the Error Message

  • When the blue screen occurs, there may be an error code or message displayed. Write it down (e.g., "CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED," "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION," or any other specific code). This can help pinpoint the issue.

Restart Your Laptop

  • Sometimes, a one-time glitch can cause a blue screen. Restarting your laptop can temporarily resolve the issue.

Boot Into Safe Mode

  • If the issue persists, try booting into Safe Mode to troubleshoot further:
    1. Restart the laptop and press F8 or Shift + F8 before Windows starts to load.
    2. From the Advanced Boot Options menu, select Safe Mode.
    3. Once in Safe Mode, try uninstalling any recently installed programs or drivers that might be causing the issue.

Update Drivers

  • Outdated or corrupted drivers often lead to BSODs. To update drivers:
    1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
    2. Right-click on the device with an exclamation mark (often in Display Adapters, Network Adapters, or Sound, Video, and Game Controllers) and choose Update Driver.
    3. You can also visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your laptop model.

Check for Windows Updates

  • Microsoft often releases patches that address stability and compatibility issues:
    1. Open Settings > Update & Security.
    2. Click Check for Updates and install any available updates.

Run the Blue Screen Troubleshooter

  • Windows includes a built-in troubleshooter for blue screen issues:
    1. Open Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
    2. Select Blue Screen and run the troubleshooter.

Check for Disk Errors

  • Corrupted files can trigger blue screens. Run the chkdsk utility to scan for disk errors:
    1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator (right-click on the Start menu and select Command Prompt (Admin)).
    2. Type chkdsk /f and press Enter.
    3. If prompted to schedule a disk check upon the next restart, type Y and press Enter, then restart your laptop.

Run System File Checker (SFC)

  • The SFC tool scans and repairs corrupted system files:
    1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
    2. Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
    3. Wait for the scan to complete and follow any on-screen instructions.

Uninstall Recent Software or Updates

  • If the blue screen started occurring after installing new software or updates, try uninstalling them:
    1. Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.
    2. Select recently installed apps and uninstall them one by one.
    3. You can also go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > View update history to uninstall recent updates.

Perform a System Restore

  • If the issue is recent and nothing else works, use System Restore to revert the system to a previous working state:
    1. Type System Restore in the Windows search bar and select Create a restore point.
    2. In the System Properties window, click on System Restore.
    3. Follow the on-screen instructions to restore your system.

Consider a System Reset

  • If the issue persists and you are unable to resolve it, consider resetting your laptop:
    1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery.
    2. Select Get Started under Reset this PC and choose to keep your files (or remove everything for a fresh start).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
