If you are using Windows -- and if you are trying to tie your Yahoo mail account to Microsoft / Windows Mail (soon to be Outlook) -- then, sure -- there might be something stuck in the Windows Mail app that dislikes Yahoo mail. It might consider your Yahoo mail to be a third party program --- IF that were the case, you'd need to create an App Password (in your Yahoo security for 2-step verification).
You might be able to add your Yahoo email account directly to Outlook - but that's Microsoft, too, so there's that.
Yahoo provides email service using your browser -- browsers that I've used will host a Yahoo email account.
Browser email generally works even when applications, clients, and programs won't let you add your email account.
If you are having trouble with your Yahoo mail account login, you have to go to Yahoo.
