Example: Pavilion 590-p0020
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Bought a refurb HP 590-p0020 on Amazon 6 moths ago. (warranty expired 5 months ago) with Win 10 installed

I'm indie author and mostly use it for Word and internet.

I've started running ads to promote my books. (My latest Book at #1 on Amazon)

If I bring up pics (not vids) to create Facebook,BookBub ads, I get BSOD crashes.

It happened once a month, then every two weeks now its every other day. Always with pics

I updated drivers.

I loaded new Windows 10 updates, which made things worse.

Can I by-pass internal Vega 8 with new video card??

what is power limit on new video card?

Vega is compatible with Windows 10. The 590-p0020 only came out with Windows 10.

I would suggest installing the latest drivers from AMD

https://www.amd.com/en/support/apu/amd-ryzen-processors/amd-ryzen-3-desktop-processors-radeon-vega-g...

Failing that, you may have a glitch with Windows or the image manipulation software.

If it's ONLY crashing on opening images, then I would not suspect a hardware fault at this stage.

If those drivers don't work or make any difference, then you may have to bite the bullet and do a full factory restore.

You do this by tapping F11 when you first turn on the PC, then go to troubleshooting, advanced and HP System Recovery.

Make sure you back up and data you want to keep beforehand.

Your response reminds me of the old line, "Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, How was the play?"

(Other than crashing regularly with a BSOD, "How do like your HP with Ryzen3/Vega8 Graphics?")

You said : "Failing that, you may have a glitch with Windows or the image manipulation software."(I added emphasis)

KEEP IN MIND NASA CALLED APOLLO 13''s NEAR CATASTROPHE A "GLITCH."

I have loaded updated drivers several times. I deleted and re-installed Windows twice.

Ii crashes to BSOD after switching between screens tabs several times or when adding text overlay to images .

It crashes when checking my ad images running on FB (no image manipulation involved.)

70% of my computer time is in MS-Word where I write and edit. (No Problems-NO crashes)

The problem only happens with images on screen, or Social Media Videos.

(I run promos for my books on Soc Med) I have one book at #1 and 4 others in top 100. This is costing me money.

If I'm on a short time it's OK, but if i'm spending time with looking at pics/vids - It acts like it (Vega8) over-heats and crashes.

The NON-HP trouble-shooting pages claim this is a  Ryzen 3/Vega 8 problem unique to HP.

If you look at the large number of complaints about this prob on NON-HP sites It appears I'm not the only one experiencing this problem.

Most agree loading up-dated driver doesn't help. All fingers point to Windows10/Ryzen3 incompatible.

I will do a factory restore you mentioned, but have little faith in HP.
